1) Explain briefly in your own words what context is. Is the context of something written, or said, limited to a specified number of sentences? How far does context extend? Does context consists of "layers," some applying more to the meanings of words than others?
- Maybe context seems to be a unit of same thought in the article. (Actually, I don't know exactly what context is. So I found the dictionary. In the dictionary, context means flows of the sentence or realtion between sentences. But, after finding the meaning of 'context' in the dictionary, I don't know the meaning of context which professor requires. So after hesitating between flow and relation, I conclude the context like first sentence.)
- I think that context is limited to a specified number of senteces. Because general flow of article, context, is determined by a specified number of sentences.
-Maybe context seems to extend according to the will of writer. But only in not too general or abstract.
< Frankly, I don't know exactly the meanig of question that professor require.. ㅠㅠ>
2) Can you know and use too many words? Explain your opinion.
- Maybe, my case will be close to "no". I know only the words in high school level in Korea. So I face diffculty when I read English textbook of university. Also use of the words which I know is not free. Thesedays I want to know how to use the words I know freely.
3 )If someone didn't know how to read, what advice would you give him or her?
- I woud advise someone to practice finding the main idea and topic, infering the meaning of words in the sentence, and infering the relations between sentences. After making these skiils free, many practices by many work books seem to be effective.
4) Preconceptions and readers' attitudes affect ability to learn from the material read? In what ways?
- Yes, preconceptionas and readers' attitudes affect ability to learn from the material read. I think preconceptionas and readers' attitudes will make reader interpret as existing thought.
